NBA 2K League Heads To Los Angeles For 2022 All-Star Game

The NBA 2K League stars will shine bright in Hollywood this Fall. The league will hold the NBA 2K League All-Star Game in Los Angeles at The Novo on Friday, September 30 at 8 p.m. ET.

For the first time, the All-Star event will include both 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 in-person competitions, with participants playing for $30,000 in prize money. A $20,000 prize pool is up for grabs in the 5-on-5, best-of-three series competition. Players competing in the 3-on-3, best-of-five format have a $10,000 prize pool.

“As we returned to in-person play this season, we have been reminded that the excitement and one-of-a-kind atmosphere of live NBA 2K League events is unparalleled,” NBA 2K League President Brendan Donohue said in a statement. “It is really fitting that our league’s top talent will compete on one stage in Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world.”

This is the first full season since 2019 that the NBA 2K League has held in-person gameplay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, the league returned to in-person play for the playoffs and finals, won by Wizards District Gaming.

Fan votes, league players, head coaches and general managers will determine the All-Star 5-on-5 rosters. Eastern and Western Conference teams will carry six players each. The head coaches can pick three of their conference’s players for the 3-on-3 event.

Amateur players from qualifying teams—Handlez and Rim Runners—will also be available as lineup options. In addition, fans will select a specific player from one of the two amateur teams for All-Star availability. All-Star teams will be announced during the 2022 NBA2KL 5v5 Finals on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET.

Both the Finals and All-Star Game will be broadcast on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels.
