Nashville Police Found And Shot Covenant School Suspect Within Minutes, Body Camera Footage Shows

Nashville Police officers shot and killed the suspect accused of killing six people Monday at a local elementary school within minutes of entering the building, body camera footage released by police Tuesday shows.

The six-minute video shows body camera footage from the two officers who police say both fired on and killed Audrey Hale, the 28-year-old suspect.

The first part of the released body camera footage shows officer Rex Engelbert moving through the first floor of the Covenant school, along with other officers, searching for the suspect in classrooms and bathrooms before moving to the second floor of the school, seeing the suspect and shooting Hale.

It takes just over three and a half minutes from the time Engelbert’s body camera appears to turn on and he exits his police vehicle to the time the body camera footage shows him shooting the suspect.

In the second part of the released body camera footage, officer Michael Collazo is seen running up the steps looking for an unlocked door to access the second floor of the school, before finding the shooter near glass windows on the second floor and shooting them a second time.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
