Martin Shkreli, the famous pharmaceutical tycoon, is now a crypto tycoon.
According to a press statement he published on behalf of his new venture into the crypto realm, this is the case.
Launch of Albumswap
The former prisoner and hedge fund manager, according to the news release, wants to swap equities for cryptocurrency.
Albumswap is his initiative, and he’s designed a native coin for it called $MS.
Imagine giving money to a pharmaceutical exec who didn’t seem to mind that life-saving medicine had become prohibitively pricey for those who needed it. The price of the $MS coin is $1 per token. There’s no news on whether anyone else bought some beside his mother.
Martin Shkreli is well-known for a variety of shady activities.
He is, however, recognized for buying an unreleased Wu-Tang Clan record. It was taken from him as he was escorted to jail. PleasrDAO, an NFT collectors syndicate, finally bought the LP “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.”
Shkreli was sentenced to seven years in prison, but he was able to get out early by being a good kid. He is presently residing in a New York halfway house. He will be free once September arrives.

When Shkreli was released from prison, he utilized his social media accounts to communicate with his fans. He claimed that escaping Twitter prison was more difficult than escaping a real jail.
Shkreli, sensing a fresh opportunity, launched the Albumswap branch of Uniswap.
“While I was detained, I grew interested in cryptography. Uniswap was something I utilized while in jail. That was the seed of my current project, Albumswap, which is essentially a fork of Uniswap. It wasn’t anything I had in mind. But I didn’t like what he said in his tweet. I believe that if I can simply capture 5% of his market share, I will have accomplished my objective. I’ll do whatever I can to irritate him. There’s the good old pharma bro mindset we’ve all been missing. While we are unable to provide financial advice, the ‘not-advice’ here is to run, Forest.”
