Markpilier Joins Spotify’s Video Podcasting Slate

Markpilier is making his way to Spotify to expand its video podcast offerings. Video episodes of Markpilier’s Distractible and Go! My Favorite Sports Team podcasts will be exclusively available on Spotify. The deal was announced at Spotify’s Stream On event.

Markpilier isn’t the first big name to sign on with Spofity’s video podcasts. The company has been specifically growing this content. Last year they launched video podcasts in 180 markets. Notable video podcasts on Spotify include Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy and Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain.

“I’m positively chuffed to bring video episodes of Distractible and Go! My Favorite Sports Team for the first time ever… exclusively to Spotify. While we love the audio world and still aim to bring you the very best in auditory experiences, by bringing our faces into the mix, we aim to give you an as-yet-unseen dimension to your listening experience,” said Markiplier.

“Both fans and creators are gravitating towards video content on Spotify, driving heightened consumption on the platform,” said Julie McNamara, VP Head of Global Podcast Studios. “As we continue to expand our offering with video podcasts, we are delighted to welcome the team behind Distractible and Go! My Favorite Sports Team along with their dedicated community of fans around the world.”

Markiplier, also known as Mark Fischbach, is a social media star with over 60M followers across platforms. He has hosted Distractible since May 2021 with Wade Barnes and Bob Muyskens. Similarly, he has hosted Go! My Favorite Sports Team with Tyler Scheid since February 2022. Markiplier is also trying to sell a TV series based on his other podcast, The Edge of Sleep.

Distractible is s podcast loosely based on the hosts’ asides on gaming live streams. Markiplier, Barnes, and Muyskens discuss funny stories, off-kilter topics and more. Go! My Favorite Sports Team offers humorous takes on sports and sports culture through the lens of one expert, Scheid, who has a master’s degree in Sports Administration, and one novice, Markiplier, who doesn’t know much about sports.

All back episodes and future audio episodes will remain available off of Spotify. Markiplier will also launch more exclusive video content with the streamer as part of the deal.

Spotify expanding its video content is an exciting move. Video podcasts have become more prevalent in recent years and seeing more platforms adopt this media style will only lead to continued interest from podcasters and podcast fans alike.
