Mango Will Open Flagship Store On New York’s Fifth Avenue

Mango fashion clothes are sold in 110 countries world-wide. Its home base is in Barcelona, Spain. Now it will open a flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

The flagship store will be located at 711 Fifth Avenue, the site of the former Ralph Lauren Polo store. The store will feature contemporary fashions for women, teens and men. In addition, Nordstrom will feature Mango clothes on their website within the next few months. It is no quite clear how many Nordstrom stores will carry Mango clothes.

Mango’s entry in the United States was with their brand MNG by Mango in 450 JCPenney stores in 2010, but it was withdrawn in 2016 since the merchandise did not resonate with JCPenney costumers. Since that time the company opened stores in Menlo Park N.J., Roosevelt Field, N.Y., Dadeland (Miami) Fla., Soho – New York City, N.Y., American Dream, East Rutherford, N.J., and inside three Macy’s stores. Since 2019 ,Macy’s has been selling Mango fashions in several stores.

According to a report in WWD, Mango has redesigned their Barcelona flagship store in a “New Med” interior design. This new design is also planned for the New York flagship store. The New Med concept environmentally conscious and focused on sustainability and energy efficiency. Stores will have energy-efficient lighting and temperature control. The store will have collecting points for used clothing and footwear that can be reused. The New Med concept was also used when Mango opened a flagship store on Oxford Street in London on November 19, 2021.

Mango was founded in 1984 in Barcelona. Today it is headquartered in Palau-Solitá i Plegamans, Spain. The company designs more than 18,000 garments a year for women, men and kids. It was founded by Isak and Nahman Andic in 1984. Today Isak Andic is chairman of the board, Toni Ruiz is CEO, Jonathan Andic is director of Mango Man and construction management and Daniel Lopez is director of expansion and franchises.

POSTSCRIPT. I was always puzzled why Mango did not have a stronger representation in the United States. One can look forward to new fashions with a contemporary look which will influence fashion looks on New York’s Fifth Avenue. In April 2011, Letizia, Princess of Asturias visited the company headquarters wearing a Mango outfit.
