Love And Thunder’ Trailer Sparks Mass Mockery Of Chris Pratt

The first Thor Love and Thunder trailer has arrived, teasing the dynamic between Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy, and giving fans their first official look at Natalie Portman’s Lady Thor.

Taika Waititi’s distinctive sense of humor shines through the trailer, and one particular scene caught the attention of fans, prompting mass mockery of MCU actor Chris Pratt.

In the trailer, Pratt’s Star-Lord gives his team a pep talk, in which he mentions being inspired by looking into the eyes of the people you love, leading to an awkward moment with Thor gazing into Star-Lord’s eyes.

Disney fans, starved of queer representation, immediately understood that the scene would inspire fanfic writers and artists to imagine the two characters in a sexual relationship. On Twitter, this lead to mass mockery of Pratt, as fans imagined his discomfort filming the scene.

Pratt, who has never spoken publicly about his political beliefs, is widely considered to be socially conservative and possibly anti-LGBT, due to his allegiance to Zoe Church, an evangelical church whose pastor, Chad Veach, once produced a film that refers to same-sex attraction as a form of “sexual brokenness.”

On Instagram, Pratt has posted enthusiastic support for the police, leading to fans dubbing Pratt “the worst Chris.” Actor Elliot Page has called out Pratt’s association with Zoe Church on Twitter, writing:

“If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed.”

Pratt responded defensively, writing on Instagram: “I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone.”

Regardless of what Pratt really believes behind closed doors, young, socially conscious MCU fans have already made up their minds, perhaps persuaded by Pratt’s vibes, rather than hard evidence; the actor tends to play obnoxious, annoyingly earnest characters, which might have contributed to his image as an out-of-touch uncle in a MAGA hat.

Hence, fans gleefully poked fun of Pratt on Twitter, encouraged by the fact that Peter Quill, ie, Star-Lord, was recently revealed to be bisexual in Marvel comics.

Thor himself, actor Chris Hemsworth, remains beloved by Marvel fans, probably because he keeps his beliefs, religious or otherwise, to himself.
