The Brooklyn Nets are holding their collective breath as they await the results of an MRI on Kevin Durant’s left knee on Sunday.
The Nets superstar will undergo the MRI after injuring the knee during the second half of Brooklyn’s 120-105 home victory over the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday night. The injury occurred when teammate Bruce Brown fell backwards into Durant’s knee in the paint.
“Yeah. I mean tonight with what happened with K [Kevin Durant] and then Kai [Kyrie Irving] being able to play road games only, and then Joe [Harris], Nic [Claxton], LaMarcus [Aldridge],” said James Harden. “We’ve been a resilient group since I’ve been here and we just got to keep going. Keep pushing. Keep pushing.”
Harden added, “I think he gets the MRI [Sunday], so we’ll see what happens. But hopefully it’s not bad at all.”
Durant has been playing at an MVP level all season for the Nets (27-15), averaging 29.7 points, 7.5 rebound and 5.9 assists.
“It would be tough to lose him,” Nets coach Steve Nash said. “No one wants to see that. We’ll obviously hope for the best outcome.”
The Nets play their next four on the road — beginning Monday in Cleveland — where they will have Kyrie Irving available.
