Kevin Durant Becomes 3rd NBA Player To Sign Lifetime Deal With Nike

Kevin Durant has become the third NBA star to sign a lifetime deal with Nike after Michael Jordan and LeBron James, he announced Friday on Boardroom.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Per Boardroom, “the lifetime deal will continue to include footwear, apparel, and a community and philanthropic collaboration focused on grassroots basketball.” Durant sponsors a Nike Elite Youth Basketball League team called Team Durant.

“When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership,” said Durant, 34. “We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal.”

Durant, who signed an endorsement deal with Nike as a rookie in 2007, is playing in his 15th NBA season and is a 13-time All-Star. After signing a 4-year, $198-million extension with the Brooklyn Nets in 2021, he was then dealt to the Phoenix Suns at the trade deadline this year.

Durant and the No. 4 Suns are about to meet the top-seeded Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals.

“As one of best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years,” said John Slusher, Nike’s executive vice president of global sports marketing. “We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”
