Johnny Depp Stans Turn Their Attention To Amber Heard’s Role In ‘Aquaman 2’

There seems to be a gaping hole in the lives of the most enthusiastic fringe of Johnny Depp’s rabid fanbase, as the much-publicized defamation trial concluded with the jury awarding Depp $15 million in compensation and punitive damages, with Amber Heard receiving $2 million in damages.

The unexpected victory was triumphantly celebrated by Depp’s fans, but the end of the trial, which was livestreamed on multiple platforms for almost 2 months, with near-daily updates providing enough gossip to fuel thousands of content creators, the Amber Heard hate machine has suddenly run into a wall – where can Depp’s simpering fanbase go from here?

Many fans have turned their attention to Aquaman 2, the one major blockbuster franchise that Heard has appeared in, and are now demanding that the actress be fired from the film, despite reportedly appearing in the sequel for a mere ten minutes.

A Change.org petition to remove Heard from the film, established long before the defamation trial, has picked up steam following the tidal wave of publicity from the trial, and has now reached 4.5 million signatures.

Some of the fanbase has already declared a premature victory, as a leaked screenshot from Instagram claiming to be from an executive at Warner Bros. Discovery states that Heard has been removed from the film entirely.

The screenshot was posted on Twitter and sparked a frenzy, with fans celebrating the win, despite the lack of concrete evidence.

Depp’s fanbase, mockingly referred to as the “Deppford wives,” have developed a reputation for running with unconfirmed truths; indeed, there are multiple pages on Snopes dedicated to fact-checking the numerous lies told about Heard, which have developed into a full blown mythology.

Heard has been accused of stealing lines from The Talented Mr. Ripley during the trial, hiding pills behind her ear and popping them on the stand, and even sniffing cocaine on the stand.

Another Twitter leaker speculated that Heard has been removed from the film and that her character, Mera, will die in childbirth during the film (or perhaps she dies on the way back to her home planet).

All of the rumors remain just that, unconfirmed rumors, but reflect the difficult state Warner Bros. finds itself in with its slate of DC films, as most of the Justice League characters have been removed from canon or engulfed in offscreen controversy. The Flash is currently in trouble as its star, Ezra Miller, has been involved in multiple violent controversies, although the actor hasn’t attracted the same level of vitriol as Heard.

Amber Heard’s Mera is a relatively unimportant character, but fans have fixated on her in their attempt to find “justice” for Johnny Depp, who claims to have lost his role in Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Beasts due to Heard’s allegations against him. Depp’s history of volatile and unprofessional behavior on set is also well documented.

While attempting to have Heard fired, Depp fans are simultaneously celebrating the skyrocketing sales of Depp’s Sauvage fragrance as a win for the actor, a perfect example of consumption masquerading as activism.
