How To Get Early Access To The Public Beta This Weekend

The biggest video game release of the summer is almost upon us. Warner Brothers’ much-anticipated brawler MultiVersus releases into open beta next week on July 26th.

But just because the game isn’t open to everyone just yet doesn’t mean you have to wait to jump into the action. Here’s how you can get into the beta right now.

What Is MultiVersus?

Before we get into that, a quick primer on what to expect from the game.

MultiVersus is a free-to-play fighting game from Player First Games and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment that is heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Smash Bros. games. The main difference is that instead of Mario and Link and those characters from Fire Emblem thwacking away at one another, the roster is drawn from Warner Bros. properties like DC Comics, Cartoon Network and HBO shows like Game Of Thrones.

All of this is cross-play and the game itself is free-to-play which means you can play without paying but the game will encourage you to spend your hard-earned cash at every corner. We’ll see how aggressive the monetization is soon enough.

The game will feature 2v2 as its primary mode as well as 1v1, 4-player free-for-all, local play and local play against bots.

How To Get Into The Open Beta Early

The MultiVersus beta officially kicks off on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Xbox Series X and PC via Steam on July 26th. It appears the beta will simply continue indefinitely with the beta itself gradually transforming into the official release, similar to Fortnite.

The Early Access portion of the beta kicked off this Tuesday, July 19th, but it’s not too late to get into the action this weekend. There are several ways to do this.

Way #1 — Buy A Founder’s Pack

There are three Founder’s Packs available, each with an assortment of goodies. Remember, the game is free-to-play so this is all cherry-on-top stuff, and the public beta starts in less than a week, so buying this solely for Early Access probably doesn’t make sense. The editions cost $40, $60 or $100 depending on which one you get, and include unlock tokens for different characters, in-game currency and so forth. The most expensive includes 3 Battle Passes. Find out more about these right here.

Way #2 — Go Back In Time And Play The Alpha

Okay, I’m being a bit glib here. But if you did play the Alpha earlier this year, you automatically have Early Access to the open beta right now. Go play and have fun.

Way #3 — Watch Twitch Streamers With Twitch Drops Enabled

So in order to get Early Access to the open beta you have to go through a few pretty simple hoops.

And that’s it. Certainly this is cheaper than a Founder’s Pack and more realistic than time travel.

I’m at Comic Con this week so I won’t be jumping into the MultiVersus beta until next week when it opens up to everybody. See you then! And as the rascally rabbit would say . . . .

That’s all folks!
