Here’s The Exact Time ‘Warzone 2’ And ‘Modern Warfare 2’ Season 1 Ends And Season 2 Begins

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 have had a very, very long first season. It’s honestly been a bit excruciating just how long Season 1 has lasted given the normal cadence we’ve come to expect from the last three Call Of Duty games—Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, all of which pumped out new seasons pretty steadily at about 10 weeks per season.

Season 1 actually kicked off on November 16th, when Warzone 2 launched. That means that Season 1 has lasted about three months. Given Modern Warfare II launched on October 28th, this means that it’s been over three-and-a-half months since that game came out. In the meantime, we’ve had very few new maps and only a couple new modes. Content has not been as steady as many players—including myself—had hoped.

This is a shame, because I really do enjoy Modern Warfare II, but have definitely grown tired of the map selection. I’m also a bit burnt out on Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map and Battle Royale mode, so the new Ashika Island Resurgence map and mode are very welcome indeed. (Read all about Ashika Island right here).

In any case, Season 2 is almost upon us. Read on to find out when Season 1 ends, when Season 2 begins and what to expect.

Season 2 Start-Time

Season 1 of Warzone 2.0 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II ends February 14th, with servers going offline at some point that night. Servers come back online February 15th and Season 2 begins at 9am PT / 12pm ET. It’s possible that some Season 2 features will go live even earlier, so keep an eye out the morning of the 15th. I’ll update this post if Season 2 kicks off earlier or if any issues cause it to be delayed (or if any other unforeseen problems should arise).

What’s Coming In Season 2

For Warzone players, the return of Resurgence mode is the crown jewel of Season 2. A new small map—Ashika Island—is coming to the game to facilitate the fast-paced twist on Battle Royale. There will be some minor changes to the Al Mazrah map as well, and Ashika Island will also be playable in the DMZ. Beyond this, balancing changes, and the shared Battle Pass / new weapons that are also coming to Modern Warfare II make up the bulk of new content for the free-to-play game.

Modern Warfare II is getting two new maps—the classic Dome map and the Museum map that was supposed to be released at launch. Along with these maps, five new weapons (including the crossbow) and several new modes like Infected and Gun Game should bring some much needed variety to the game. Ronin is the season’s new Battle Pass Operator.

Ranked play is also making a return, replacing CDL Moshpit though retaining CDL rules and so forth. I’m really looking forward to this, as a rank system could very well be more useful and balanced than the crude SBMM we’re getting across modes now.

Here’s the Season 2 roadmap for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0:

Players should also look forward to some new challenges and gameplay mechanics heading to the game(s) at the season’s launch, plus new content throughout the season. Hopefully Season 2 will be shorter than Season 1, and Season 3 will add the wonderful—but still absent—Gunfight mode. I miss it badly and will continue to complain about it not being in the game until they add it.

See you on Ashika Island, folks.
