‘Hawkeye’ Actor Was Reportedly Helping Stranded Car At Time Of Accident

Topline

Jeremy Renner was run over by his own snow plow after leaving the vehicle to assist a stranded car, according to the Reno Gazette Journal, as the Hawkeye actor is in critical condition in an intensive care unit Tuesday while he recovers from surgery for injuries sustained during the incident.

Key Facts

Reno Mayor Hillary Shieve told the Reno Gazette Journal that Renner “was helping someone stranded in the snow” before he was run over by his vehicle.

Renner is recovering from two surgeries performed Monday, Renner’s spokesperson Samantha Mast told CNN, after the actor suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”

Mast had earlier said Renner was in “critical but stable condition” after being hospitalized following a “weather-related accident” while plowing snow on New Year’s Day, according to the New York Times.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “traumatic injury” at Renner’s home Sunday morning before Renner was airlifted to a nearby hospital, the office said in a statement, adding Renner was the only one injured in the accident.

According to the statement, the county’s Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the accident.
