Fashion designer Peter Dundas and his partner, Evangelo Bousis, had their children baptized by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, drawing protest from Greece’s Orthodox Church, which does not recognize same-sex marriage.
Greece’s Orthodox Church said it will send a letter of complaint to Archbishop Elpidophoros, as well as to the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, protesting the baptism, the Associated Press reported.
Elpidophoros baptized the children, a boy and a girl, both born via surrogacy, in Athens on July 9.
Elpidophoros has yet to respond to the objections, according to the Associated Press.
Dundas, who is based in Los Angeles, has created red carpet looks for artists like Beyoncé, Ciara and Mary J. Blige.
