First Free PlayStation Plus Game For April Revealed Early

The first free PS Plus title for April, 2023 was just revealed by Sony. Typically, we don’t hear about PlayStation Plus lineups until the final week of the month. I guess this new April release was just too hot to keep under wraps for long.

Meet Your Maker is a unique mashup of several genres. Part tower defense, part first-person shooter, part building sim, you basically craft deadly Outposts filled with monsters, traps and maze-like levels, designed to thwart other players, and then blast your way through other players’ Outposts. Build and raid. Raid and build. Here’s the trailer:

This actually looks like a lot of fun, though games like this always look like they’d be more at home on a PC with a mouse and keyboard setup rather than using a controller on a console. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. Meet Your Maker is the latest game from Montreal-based Dead By Daylight studio, Behavior Interactive.

The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and players take on the role of Custodian of the Chimera, harvesting and stockpiling Genetic Material. Both the building and raiding aspects of the game are in first-person, and you can control your Outposts down to guard movements. Loadouts for raiding include guns, swords and three different classes: Ranged, Melee and Defensive.

The base game also includes the Castle Siege Deco Pack which gives you the ability to create Medieval style castles, with more themed packs on the way.

Meet Your Maker is free for PS Plus Essential (and above) subscribers on day one, April 4th, which is also the first Tuesday of the month, the same day PS Plus games are always released. Presumably, two other titles will also release as part of April’s PlayStation Plus lineup. Stay tuned.
