On Tuesday, the newly formed group, Canadian Web3 Council, announced that it intends to champion a national tragedy in Canada for cryptocurrency and digital assets.

In a statement, the organization explained that there is a dire need to ensure Canada and its citizens are in a position where they can leverage the benefits of the emerging asset class.

The Canadian Web3 Council urges every institute in the hierarchy of government to come together and drive an approach in order to create an equitable, robust, and sustainable national strategy for digital assets and cryptocurrency.

According to the statement, additional members are on the lookout. The initial members of the council include Wealthsimple, Aquanow, NBA Top Shotmaker Dapper Labs, Ether Capital, ETHGlobal, Axiom Zen, Chainsafe Systems, and WonderFi Technologies.

CEO of Toronto-based Ether Capital, Brian Mosoff, says that the Canadian crypto ecosystem is bound to grow and establish Canadian firms as global leaders.

Government, regulators, and industry participants need to collaborate on enacting a framework for responsible innovation that leads Canadian investors and businesses on the path to success.

According to the council, the capital markets of Canada, in some instances, have embraced crypto products with much more openness than in the U.S.

Toronto has approved the spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETF) and has been trading for some time, while the Securities and Exchange Commission in the U.S. has not yet given approval to such an ETF.

After the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Ontario Provincial Police ordered all regulated financial firms to stop processing any transactions from 34 crypto wallets attached to the funding that is opposed by the country’s truckers.
