Donald Trump Says Video ‘Was Doctored’ To Suggest He Walked Out On Piers Morgan Interview

Former President Donald Trump has accused Piers Morgan of “unlawfully and deceptively” editing a video promo to suggest that he’d stormed out of an interview for Morgan’s new show, Uncensored, which will stream on Fox News Media’s streaming platform, Fox Nation. “He wanted to make it look like I walked out on the interview,” Trump said in a statement released by his spokesperson. “For those who want to make Piers look bad, compare his video promo and how it was doctored to the real thing. Hopefully they will now be doing some big changes to their final product.”

Trump also released his own audio recording of the encounter with Morgan, which features Trump and Morgan laughing and thanking each other. “That was a great interview,” Morgan says.

The promo, released Wednesday, featured quick clips from the interview, including Morgan telling Trump “you lost.” The promo led to a flurry of stories—including a front-page headline in the U.K. tabloid The Sun: “GRUMPY TRUMPY”—suggesting the interview had been so combative that Trump stood up and left, saying “very dishonest” as he walked out.

The audio recording, first reported by NBC News, was recorded by Trump’s communications director, Taylor Budowich, who says the former president said “very deceptive” not about the interview itself, but Morgan’s repeated claims that he had just one last question, dragging an agreed-upon 20 minute interview to run more than an hour.

“Is that the last question? You’ve said ‘the last question’ four times now,” Budowich tells Morgan on the recording. “So I feel lik you’re lying at this point.”

“I’m not lying,” Morgan says, and Trump follows that with “very deceptive.”
