Donald Trump Lands His First No. 1 Hit On A Billboard Chart

Donald Trump is currently busy both running for re-election and trying to stay out of prison, as there are rumors–some of which have been propelled by the man himself–that he’s bound to be arrested any day now.

In between all of his legal and political drama, the former president has snagged a surprising new accomplishment: a Billboard No. 1 hit single.

Trump is credited as a featured artist on a song titled “Justice for All,” which is slated to debut at No. 1 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the bestselling (not most-consumed) tracks in the U.S. every frame. The music magazine is expected to update its lists tomorrow (Wednesday, March 22).

“Justice For All” is credited to both Trump and the J6 Prison Choir, a group made up of people arrested for their involvement in the January 6th insurrection that took place following the 2020 US presidential election.

According to data shared by Luminate, “Justice For All” sold a little more than 33,000 downloads in the prior tracking week. The tune is meant to be a fundraiser of sorts, as all proceeds generated from sales and streams of the track will benefit those who are currently incarcerated. The single has also racked up at least half a million streams in the U.S. alone.

“Justice For All” features Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, while the jailed protesters, who recorded their part via phone from prison, sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Interestingly, the song’s writers are attributed to the J6 Prison Choir, even though the words have existed for many years. No producer is credited on the track.

While the song was reportedly in the works before Trump became involved, he agreed to participate and is now formally credited on the track. This marks the first No. 1 hit for both the J6 Prison Choir and the former president.

Despite the controversies surrounding Trump’s presidency and his ongoing legal troubles–or perhaps because of them–it’s clear that his involvement in the song has generated a significant amount of attention. The former president’s appearance on a No. 1 hit is undoubtedly a milestone, and it will be interesting to see what impact this has on his public image in the coming weeks and months as he continues his election and potentially winds up in a courtroom to answer for a number of investigations that involve him.
