Doctors Are Cutting Off With MetaDocs, Which Pledged DMs with TikTok

A cluster of Instagram and TikTok famous physicians stated that they have an answer for the “red tape” of present medical system.
These NFTs were dubbed as MetaDocs, and are supposed to offer the buyers accessibility to actual doctors, similar to Web3 telehealth subscription.
Upon MetaDocs release back in December, it asserted that its legion of famed doctors having over 70 Million followers collectively.

Medical Community Dropping Their Tools In MetaDocs

Meta Docs is currently experiencing a backfire from medical community, in part as it is not licensed as a telemedicine facility and thus doctors ultimately cannot legally make diagnosis, offer prescription, or offer personal medical counsel to any MetaDocs holder.

As per a recent whitepaper, MetaDocs presale cost 0.2 ETH, though the organization has not yet determined a precise value. But why would any individual spend funds to acquire an animated character just to seek counsel from a doctor.

MetaDocs has also encountered some problems with doctors it has lured in to offer services to its NFT holders. It has now eliminated at least 8 physicians from its roster, some because they were in disagreement for participation, and others because they were not comfortable with project.

Mechanisms Of MetaDocs

MetaDocs mechanisms are highlighted in its whitepaper, which elaborates a system where NFT buyers will get “heart tokens” or every day until they are the owners of MetaDocs NFT.

Tokens are redeemable for 3 tiers of doctor “experiences,” from AMA to VCs to DMs. Official website of MetaDocs says that NFT holders will receive discounts on chosen apparel, self care products, medical tests, health supplements and much more.

So far, several user interactions with doctors have occurred in a now-deleted “Ask a Doctor Chat” inside project’s Discord, where many users, called “patients,” can receive counsel from MetaDocs physicians.

Users posted questions regarding threats of performance enhancing medication, what to say to a dying person, and whether or not they should be concerned regarding internal pain.

During March, a user asked regarding the impact of diet sweeteners. Dr. Shane William, part of MetaDocs NFT and a family medicine doctor based in Florida, reacted to this, saying that the usual consensus is that they may lead to problems down the line (GI Cancer maybe). He didn’t have much research to support it. Just stating what he heard via grapevines.

There were no descriptions regarding channels, content warnings, no disclaimers hinting that comments must not be construed as medical counsel.
