DEA partners with Angkor Tiger FC

Play-to-earn platforms have become increasingly popular in Southeast Asia. These platforms allow people to play in an organized manner while earning passive income, and they create a new way for people to earn from their jobs.

Angkor Tiger FC will be a “gaming guild” on DEA’s play-to-earn ecosystem. The soccer club will buy NFTs of digital assets and in-game items through PlayMining. These will be bought using the investment funds contributed by the club’s sponsors.

“The business models we are working on under ‘PlayMining’ such as GameFi and Play to Earn, are not only a fusion of gaming and fintech, but they also aim to solve sustainable social issues and help people around the world to achieve their goals,” said the CEO of DEA, Naohito Yoshida.

Partnership to support the Cambodian economy

Cambodia’s economy was among the worst hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The country currently has a high level of unemployment. The partnership between DEA and Angkor Tiger FC seeks to create a new source of income in Cambodia through DEA’s play-to-earn games.

The owner of Angkor Tiger FC, Akihiro Kato, is hopeful that the partnership will provide financial support to both the club and the Cambodian economy. The pandemic disrupted the club’s normal activities, forcing it to play without fans between 2002 and 2021. During the announcement of this partnership, Kato noted that,

As we were thinking about what we could do as a club besides soccer, we met Mr Yoshida and decided to start the Tiger Guild project because we saw the possibility of improving the livelihood of our supporters and the people of Siem Reap. I would like to team up with DEA to create a new form of club management for the next era.
