Cristiano Ronaldo Binances – Trustnodes

Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has partnered with one of the world’s biggest crypto exchange, Binance, on NFTs.

Binance will launch a global campaign to give Ronaldo’s fans an introduction to Web3 with a compelling entry point into the world of NFTs, the exchange said.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Binance plan to create a series of collections for sale exclusively on the newly launched Binance NFT platform.

The first collection is to be released later this year and will feature designs created in collaboration with Ronaldo.

“The idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of,” said Cristiano Ronaldo. “I know the fans are going to enjoy the collection as much as I do.”

In a video announcing the partnership a smiling Ronaldo says he’ll take football to the next level as shown above.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s best footballers, and has transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries,” said Binance’s Founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao. “We are thrilled to provide his fans with exclusive engagement opportunities to connect with Ronaldo and own a piece of iconic sports history.”

There’s no indication yet of what these NFTs might look like, and there’s no clarification regarding just how much this partnership might have cost Binance.

But their NFT platform seems to be handling some volumes of about $1 million in the past week, with it unclear what blockchain Ronaldo will use.

That the world’s best known footballer gets to use a blockchain at all, however, is an indication of a new level of adoption in crypto, with NFTs in particular grabbing attention.

But only recently Zhao said: “It was not easy saying no to Super bowl ads, stadium naming rights, large sponsor deals a few months ago, but we did.”

Sounds like that was temporary as crypto appears unable to resist sport and football in a curious mix of geeks targeting jockeys, presumably as a proxy for the everyday man.

Ronaldo is very much an icon however and his NFTs can potentially be historic, even if they will likely be on the somewhat centralized Binance chain, rather than something more neutral like ethereum.

There’s also of course the other far bigger Ronaldo, the Ronaldo of Brazil, and some of his physical cards are going for $3,000 on eBay.

So Cristiano Ronaldo NFTs may have the potential to become collectibles as the man gives way to the new generation of football stars.
