The Cowboys are favored in their return to the playoffs after a two-year hiatus, but the public isn’t buying America’s team in the Wild Card round.

As of Sunday afternoon, 60 percent of the bets and a whopping 80 percent of the handle is on the 49ers to cover the spread.

Despite this lopsided action, the line on this 2022 NFC Wild Card round clash has not moved from its initial mark.

Total: Over-under 51

The total on this game projects a high-scoring outcome, an unsurprising revelation given the Cowboys were the highest-scoring team during the 2021 campaign.

The public is relatively split on this total, with the over only holding a slight edge with 54 percent of the tickets. The handle is heavily skewed in the over’s favor, however, as 88 percent of the money wagered is on that side of the total.

Moneyline: DAL -160, SF +135

The Cowboys are a slight, -160 moneyline favorite in the Wild Card round. Bettors would need to risk $1.60 to win $1 on the NFC East champions winning at home this afternoon.

Those who back the 49ers as a +135 underdog would net $1.35 for each $1 wagered on an upset.

These odds imply a 62.3 percent probability that Dallas advances to the Divisional round and a 42.6 percent probability of San Francisco besting the Cowboys for just the second time since the 2003 season began.  

The percentages add up to over 100 due to the “vig”, a cut the bookmaker takes for facilitating bets.
