Christine Moy Exits from JPMorgan Leaving Her Role as Global Head of Metaverse

JPMorgan announced that Christine Moy has decided to leave her role as Global Head of Metaverse.

Finance Magnates recently learned that Christine Moy, a veteran of JPMorgan’s
 
 blockchain 
and crypto operations, has decided to leave JPMorgan, one of the largest investment banks globally.

Moy has been with the firm for eighteen and a half years, according to her LinkedIn profile. She co-led the 2020 launch of blockchain unit Onyx, which operates a payments network named Liink as well as JPM Coin. She has taken on various roles at the Wall Street bank. Her last role at the bank was Global Head of Metaverse within the Onyx team.

Prior to this announcement, Moy has spent her entire career at J.P. Morgan, a total of eighteen and a half years.

She began her experience in the Autumn of 2003 as CIB, Syndicated Loan Trading. After close to three years, she received a promotion to the post of CIB, Asset-Backed Securities Origination & Syndication and worked on auto and equipment finance. In September 2009, the company elevated her to CIB, Global Commodities Sales &
 
 Marketing 
of metals, energy and coal.

She progressed further to Private Bank, Product & Platform Development/Management in the summer of 2012 focusing on Credit Risk and Capital Advisory. From there, she became the Global Head of Blockchain & Crypto, fulfilling the requirements of the role over the next six years.

Then, in October 2020, she was again promoted to Global Head of Liink, Onyx by J.P. Morgan which continued for another seventeen months. Finally, just five months ago, she was awarded the position of Global Head of Metaverse (Web2 & Web3), Onyx by J.P. Morgan.

Instrumental in Building and Leading JPMorgan’s Blockchain Program

Moy announced on LinkedIn: “After almost two decades, I am leaving JPM to pursue a new opportunity.

“Thank you to the leadership at J.P. Morgan for the opportunities I have had to grow and learn. I appreciate that Umar Farooq, Takis Georgakopoulos and others have empowered me to take risks, experiment, take long shots and build an authentic team culture. I appreciate the leaders who have mentored, sponsored me, and guided me through even the most challenging times (you know who you are).”

In a memo to staff Umar Farooq, the Head of Onyx, made this announcement: “Christine has been instrumental in building and leading JPMorgan’s blockchain program, dating back to 2015 when the blockchain team consisted of fewer than five people. Fortunately, we have a very strong bench of exceptional leaders and experts in distributed ledger technology that will enable us to lead and innovate in this space in the future.”

In the same memo, it mentioned that Sushil Raja, the CFO and Head of Strategy for Onyx, will be taking over a number of Moy’s responsibilities as Global Head of Liink. It also stated that earlier, Raja was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman, where he advised financial technology firms.
