The slowest of slow burns is quickly becoming a hit. According to Netflix’s latest weekly Top 10 list, Bridgerton Season 2 has broken the record for the most-viewed title in a week on the English TV list.

In its first full week on the streaming service, the Regency era romance racked up 251.74 million hours viewed for the week of March 28 to April 3. It also landed in the top ten in 93 countries. Season 1 of the Shondaland series also returned to the top of the Netflix charts, coming in at number two with 53.02 million hours viewed. New baking competition series Is It Cake? rounded out the top three with 26.51 million hours viewed. Another Shondaland product, Inventing Anna, previously held the record for most-watched English-language series over a week with 196 million hours viewed.

Korean smash hit Squid Game still outpaces the competition with the record for the most-viewed show on Netflix overall across seven days, with 571.76 million hours through the week of September 27, 2021.

Chris Van Dusen serves as the creator and showrunner of Bridgerton. It is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Van Dusen.

The second season follows the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, as he searches for a suitable bride to become his Viscountess. But his plans to marry the season’s diamond, who seems perfect on paper, are thwarted by his intended’s headstrong older sister Kate who objects to the match. The ongoing tension between the two soon reveals that they are attracted to each other.
