Blackpink’s ‘How You Like That’ Is An Unstoppable Smash On YouTube

Throughout their years together as a band, Blackpink has seen their projects and songs sell and stream well all around the world, but their releases perform the best on YouTube. In fact, the South Korean girl group is one of the most successful acts on the video-hosting platform, with many bits of history belonging solely to them. Now, as one of their most beloved uploads reaches a special milestone, it’s clear that not only is the quartet hugely popular, but their fans all around the world can’t get enough of one song in particular.

Blackpink’s “How You Like That” dance performance video has hit one billion views on YouTube, becoming one of a relatively small number of uploads from a South Korean act to make it to that mark. In fact, it appears to be one of approximately 15 titles from artists hailing from that part of the world to accrue a view count so high. Seeing any visual pass that threshold is impressive, but it’s only part of the story surrounding that tune’s success on the site.

Amazingly, the performance clip is the second upload of “How You Like That” to reach one billion plays on YouTube. Not long ago, the official music video also entered the billion-view club. That means that fans everywhere love the tune so much, they’ve clicked on both the proper treatment and the simple-but-stunning performance spot more than one billion times each, bringing the single’s total to well over two billion plays on the site.

Including other uploads that use the song, such as fan-made lyric videos, simple posts that feature nothing but the tune and even live performances of the track—Blackpink themselves have shared their rendition from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, for example—the total number of views that “How You Like That” has racked up grows by many millions. In fact, it could be upwards of 2.2 billion listens or more.

“How You Like That” was released in June 2020 as the lead single from Blackpink’s then-upcoming debut full-length The Album. The electro tune immediately became a charting hit all around the world, reaching at least the top 40 in dozens of nations, including the U.S. and the U.K. In the girl group’s home country of South Korea, it quickly became a No. 1 smash, and it set The Album for success everywhere.
