Azuro Protocol Rolls Out Its Second Testnet

The decentralized betting protocol Azuro has rolled out version two of its Testnet, adding six new betting markets for bettors who’re willing to try their luck. They debut alongside introducing new, weekly challenges for users to complete and win NFTs that promise to provide real utility once the Azuro Mainnet launches in the second quarter.

Azuro is one of the most promising cryptocurrency projects around. It has created a global, decentralized betting protocol that relies on smart contracts to cut out the middleman – bookmakers – and add greater transparency to the world of betting.

The idea with Azuro is to provide bettors with a trustless alternative to mainstream sportsbooks with the same traditional betting experience. Its unique Protocol aims to eliminate one of the bettors’ main grips – a lack of trust in bookmaker platforms that are earned by their refusal to pay out and their tendency to void winning bets for spurious reasons.

Azuro breaks down the role of the bookmaker into several different tasks that the community performs, namely front-end management, liquidity provision, data provision, and decentralized governance. The main benefit, besides greater trust, is that Azuro’s approach will share more value with ecosystem participants.

That greater value begins with version two of the Azuro Testnet, now live. Bettors can now place free bets using “test USDT” on four additional soccer markets. Including Full-Time Result, Total Goals, Handicap, and Double Chance, as well as two new eSports leagues that will be added soon: CS:Go and Dota2, with markets including Map and Match Winner.

We should point out that with Azuro still being at the testnet stage, users can’t yet bet real crypto and earn a profit, but the new weekly challenges provide an incentive to have a few test flutters anyway.

Kicking off this week, the #azuroSZN (Azuro Season) challenges include a weekly betting challenge, with the first task being to win three bets in the Full-Time result market in seven days from all of the matches available on the Azuro Testnet. Those who win the challenge will be awarded a unique “Savvy Bettor” NFT that Azuro said will provide the genuine utility with the launch of its mainnet, as well as a Discord role.

The second task for bettors is a “Mystery Challenge”, so it’s not clear what bettors have to do, though there are some hints in Azuro’s official Discord channel. Those who manage to win the mystery challenge, either through luck or by working it out, will earn a Mystery Solver Discord role and NFT, but be warned, as Azuro says, it’s not an easy one to get!

The final challenge is the Weekly Meme Challenge that asks Azuro fans to create a meme related to crypto, betting, or sports and has an Azuro theme. For this challenge, just three winners will be chosen and rewarded with a highly-coveted Meme-zurian Discord role and NFT.

Azuro said all three challenges would be renewed each week with different tasks to complete. Round one kicked off on January 10 and ran until Sunday, January 16, when the winners will be announced. To take part in the challenges, users must join the Azuro Discord and verify their wallets there.
