At Least Three Killed In Shooting At Michigan State University, Suspected Gunman Found Dead

Topline

At least three people were killed in a shooting at Michigan State University on Monday night triggering an hours-long manhunt for the suspected gunman who was eventually found dead by the police, in the latest incident of gun violence at an educational institute in the country.

Key Facts

The university’s police department said the suspected shooter was found dead outside MSU’s campus and it appeared he had died from a “self-inflicted gunshot.”

Five other people who were injured in the shooting were being treated at a nearby hospital but all of them remained in critical condition, the police added.

A shelter-in-place order which was in effect after the shooting began has now been lifted.

The university’s campus will remain closed for 48 hours and all classes and extracurricular activities have been canceled for this duration.

Police are yet to establish a motive for the shooting but have said that the gunman appeared to have no connection to the university.

This is a developing story.
