Another Famous New York City Red Sauce Joint Enters The Supermarket

Instead of waiting in line for a seat at one of New York City’s most famous Italian restaurants, you can now head to the grocery store to recreate the experience.

Following in the footsteps of Rao’s Homemade and Carbone Fine Foods, Rubirosa is joining the esteemed Manhattan restaurants by jarring their beloved sauce and offering it to the masses.

Thanks to years of popular demand, Rubirosa at Home launched this October with a new line debuting with three pantry items: Marinara Sauce, Vodka Sauce and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The product line is inspired by recipes directly from Rubirosa, the Italian-American family-owned restaurant and pizzeria in New York City known for its thin crust pizzas and signature fresh pastas. The sauces can be used to recreate the iconic dishes, or just for a simple meal in a home kitchen.

Products can be purchased online at rubirosanyc.shop and at the restaurant in Nolita, individually or in a bundle. The Marinara Sauce ($13.99) is inspired by the family’s legacy Staten Island pizzeria mother sauce with an exclusive blend of plum and pear tomatoes. The Vodka Sauce ($13.99) is the restaurant’s signature swirled sauce on the Instagram-famous Vodka Sauce Pizza is made with their exclusive tomatoes blend, spices and cream. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($26.99) is a bright, unfiltered olive oil with a green hue that is used in the restaurant’s kitchen and originates from Asaro Organic Farm, a fourth generation family farm in Valle del Belice, Sicily.

Louise Fili, an Italian-American expert in Italian visual culture and award-winning graphic designer designed the graphics for Rubirosa at Home, aiming for branding that pulls in elements of Modernism and European Art Deco design. The bright patterned backdrop of the products nods to the familiar checkered tablecloth, reminiscent of those used in traditional Italian restaurants.

Now, New Yorkers and wannabe Manhattanites will have a trio of brands to choose from when creating the red sauce experience at home.
