All Hail The Queen Of Punk

Celebrities from the world of fashion and music gathered yesterday to pay their respects to fashion disruptor, Dame Vivienne Westwood DBE. Amongst them were Stormzy, Kate Moss and Dame Helena Bonham Carter.

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and British Vogue editor Edward Enninful alongside designers Dame Zandra Rhodes, Erdem Moralioglu and Victoria Beckham were also in attendance at the memorial to mark Westwood’s long career in fashion and as an environmental activist.

The memorial was held at Southwark cathedral yesterday, on the eve of London Fashion Week and celebrated the life of the fashion icon who died in December aged 81.

Established in London’s Kings Road in the 1970’s, Westwood’s boutique, Sex, represents a critical chapter in the story of punk rock in the UK. Her signature provocative clothing adorned with tears, safety pins and explicit slogans became part of the unofficial look of this rebellious movement.
