AB de Villiers partners with Myria for first mobile cricket game

AB de Villiers, the legendary South African cricket player, and blockchain gaming company Myria announced a partnership to create a mobile-based cricket game on Myria’s infrastructure, Invezz learned from a press release.

The first celebrity-backed cricket blockchain game

The game is the first to combine blockchain play-and-earn models with NFTs and other exciting features. Only mobile users will have access to the AB de Villiers-backed game, which aims to bring the thrill of playing cricket to mobile phones.

Building a brand and a new cricket community

The partnership between Myria and AB de Villiers will help create a brand and a community around cricket, letting fans leverage their love and understanding of the game to enjoy themselves and make money at the same time.  

AB de Villiers stated:

My cricket game will be fun and exciting just like a match on the field, but it will also be equitable and empower digital asset ownership. Myria shares my commitment and together we will bring new cricket experiences to my fans.

Full-scale blockchain gaming platform

Founded as recently as last year, Myria’s full-scale gaming development platform wants to breathe life into blockchain games and aims to deliver the highest possible quality. They develop their own free-to-play AAA titles while enabling partners to launch games in their ecosystem through their full-stack solution.

Earning is not the main objective

AB de Villiers, often referred to as the GOAT in cricket, hopes to encourage his millions of fans across the globe to try out blockchain gaming with this project. Unlike most blockchain games, earning is not the main reason to play.

The creators want the game to be truly exciting for its players and even to create a culture around it.

Players can download the game for free after it launches next year, which is expected by Q2 2023 at the latest.
