23XI Racing Inks Multi-Year Contract Extension With Bubba Wallace

23XI Racing on Friday announced it inked a multi-year extension with Bubba Wallace, piloting the team’s flagship No. 23 Toyota.

The second-year organization, co-owned by Michael Jordan and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin, expanded to a second entry this year and recently signed Tyler Reddick for the 2024 season.

“Bubba was a key part of the early stages of 23XI, and I am thrilled that he will continue with the team,” Hamlin said. “When we announced Bubba as our first driver the goal was to help him take his career to a higher level, and we have done just that.

“Bubba and the No. 23 team earned the organization our first win and first pole award, and with a career-best four consecutive top-10 finishes heading into Richmond this weekend, Bubba is continuing to get more competitive each week. We’re excited to see his growth as he and the team work toward achieving our goals.”

Wallace recently earned his first career pole position at Michigan International Speedway. He is currently riding a career-best streak of four straight top-10 finishes, including three top fives.

Last month, Wallace revealed that even though he was only a year and a half into his venture with 23XI Racing, he expects to remain with the organization for the long term.

“I told them from the get go I want to make this place home for a really long time,” Wallace said. “I can see myself retiring here. I have to do a better job on and off the racetrack to elevate this team to greater heights. We have the right people in place to do that.

“On top of that, we have really great personnel. We have great men and women working their tails off to make it a fast and fun environment. We just have to put it all together.”

Wallace has been a one-of-a-kind driver for 23XI Racing. He’s helped secure major corporate partnership deals in Nascar, such as Wheaties, Root Insurance, Dr Pepper, DoorDashDASH
, Draft Kings, Columbia SportswearCOLM
, Embrace Home Loans and more.

Wallace’s teammate, Kurt Busch, has missed the past three races after suffering from a concussion during a qualifying accident at Pocono Raceway in July. Ty Gibbs, Joe Gibbs’ grandson, has taken over the No. 45 car in the interim. While Busch is scheduled to return to the track, he did have a setback this week and will not race at Richmond.

It is unknown if the concussion will impact Busch’s 2023 plans, in which he’s currently signed to continue competing alongside Wallace.
