New Statement from Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin: “Ethereum Needs Revision!”

Vitalik Buterin, the visionary behind Ethereum, has put forward a transformative proposal for Ethereum’s proof-of-stake (PoS) system that aims to address scalability issues and improve decentralization.

Ethereum Founder Proposes Revision of Proof-of-Stake Mechanism

At the heart of Buterin’s proposal is a fundamental shift in the way Ethereum manages validator signatures within its PoS framework.

Currently, Ethereum has 895,000 validating objects, encouraging decentralization and broad participation in staking. However, this approach leads to a large processing overhead as the chain deals with a large number of signatures per slot.

In response to these challenges, Buterin proposes getting rid of the expectation of constantly increasing signings per slot.

This approach includes focusing on decentralized staking pools, potentially increasing the minimum deposit size and placing a cap on the number of validators.

Buterin also recommends a two-layer system with a heavy layer for precision and a lightweight layer for additional security.

This approach introduces the concept of rotating participation, where a subset of validators are selected for each slot and participation probabilities are determined by stake size.
