Film Director Ridley Scott Is Producing Movie about Ethereum

Ridley Scott is not the first Hollywood director to explore crypto space. American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino auctioned seven “secret” non-fungible tokens at the beginning of the year.

English film director Ridley Scott plans to produce a movie adaptation about Ethereum. The Ethereum-focused movie is an adaptation of the book titled “The Infinite Machine”. The book is an account by crypto-journalist Camila Russo about the creation of Ethereum and its growth. In The Infinite Machine, Russo explains how Canadian-Russian programmer Vitalik Buterin came up with the Ethereum idea. Russo also detailed the subsequent development after the idea’s conception as well as the network’s progress. The true story of the rise of Ethereum is now about to become a full movie.

Ridley Scott and Scott Free Productions Are Making an Ethereum Movie from The Infinite Machine’

In a tweet, Russo excitedly announced that Scott and his production company Scott Free are making a movie adaption of The Infinite Machine into a movie. Other producers working with Scott are Tom Moran, Alejandro Mirandro, and Vera Meyer. Meanwhile, Shyam Madiraju will be the director of the Ethereum movie. Russo commented:

“It is incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott and the crew at Scott Free produce the movie The Infinite Machine alongside us. I can’t imagine a better team to turn the riveting story about the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the internet into a feature film that will capture the hearts of our generation.”

Charles Hoskinson, who also played a key role in the creation of Ethereum, has commented on the anticipated movie. Recently, he posted a tweet inquiring who should play the Charles Hoskinson character. Buterin co-founded Ethereum with eight others, including Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson.

Notably, Ridley Scott is not the first Hollywood director to explore crypto space. American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino auctioned seven “secret” non-fungible tokens at the beginning of the year. The NFTs the Tarantino auctions featured fan-favorite moments of his movie titled “Pulp Fiction.” The auction was public on the Ethereum blockchain, and participants could use ETH or ERC-20 compatible stablecoins to buy the NFTs.  Also, SCRT Labs partnered with the director on the initiative. SCRT Labs CEO Guy Zyskind addressed the development:

“Secret Network is proud to stand with Quentin. We are committed to working with talented artists across the globe by providing them a better way to release their works directly to fans without relying on older distribution models, which favor conglomerates over creators.”

Scott Free Productions

Scott Free Productions is known for some top successful films like Gladiator, Blade Runner, Top Gun, American Gangster, and Thelma & Louise. Since its inception in 1995, the company has received more than 90 Academy Award nominations. Some of the latest films by the production house are House of Gucci and The Last Duel. Its upcoming works are Napoleon, Berlin Nobody, Boston Strangler, and First Ascent.
