Breitman emphasized that while the upgrade extends data usability for rollups on Ethereum, thereby lowering transaction costs in L2 solutions, inherent throughput constraints persist. Dencun’s Impact on Ethereum Scalability Unveiled!

Dencun upgrade’s launch comes approximately a year after the Shanghai upgrade in April, a milestone that allowed network participants to unstake their Ether for the first time post the transition to a proof-of-stake network following the Merge.

The Dencun hard fork integrates nine distinct Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs). Combining the Cancun upgrade for Ethereum’s execution layer with the Deneb upgrade for the consensus layer, Dencun’s structure is twofold. Cancun focuses on refining transaction management and processing on the execution layer, while Deneb concentrates on enhancing the consensus layer, addressing how participants in the network collectively agree on the blockchain’s state.
