The browser features crypto asset prices and gas fees, crypto events, airdrops, and podcasts; a news and data aggregator named “Crypto Corner,” a bespoke start page focused on live crypto information and updates, and more.

Jorgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, said:

The interest in Web3 is continuing to grow. The Opera Crypto Browser Project was built to simplify the Web3 user experience that has often been bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use in order to reach its full potential and a mass adoption.

Support for Ethereum, Polygon, Celo

The Opera Crypto Browser Project provides users with access to an integrated, non-custodial crypto wallet supporting Polygon (MATIC/USD), Ethereum (ETH/USD), and Celo (CELO/USD) blockchain ecosystems with more blockchain integrations planned.

The key features of the non-custodial crypto wallet are the option to buy crypto with fiat, send, receive, and swap the tokens of any supported blockchain and seamless and direct access to decentralized exchanges, Web3-based NFTs, and gaming DApps.

Asset integration

The browser on the latest iOS version can also restore any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible Wallet with the native Opera Wallet, enabling users to integrate their existing assets and balances into their Crypto Browser setup.

Improving security on Web3

The Crypto Browser project aims to further fortify user security on Web3. Among its advanced features are a popup blocker, a native ad and tracker blocker, and a user-friendly Cookie Dialogue Blocker.

It also includes protection from cryptocurrency mining, blocking any ‘crypto jacking’ scripts that could lead to deterioration of iOS device performance.
