KuCoin Report Confirms Growing Involvement of Females In Web3 Sector

The Web 3 Career Market report released by the global cryptocurrency exchange has provided invaluable statistical data on the involvement and professional development of female users in Web3 space. The statistics were compiled based on a grouping methodology that sifted over 3,600 female users into professionals, enthusiasts and those with no experience in Web3 working environments.

Statistical Grouping

The KuCoin report discovered that 16% of the surveyed female users can be categorized as Web 3 professionals. 60% of representatives in the given group has previous experience of working in Web3, or related sectors spanning cryptocurrency markets, metaverses, NFTs, DAOs, DeFi services, and DApps. 24% of the professionals have worked full-time in the sector, the rest having experience as entrepreneurs, part-timers or freelancers. Over 59% of the representatives of the group of professionals were revealed to be under the age of 30.

54% of the respondents were categorized as Web3 enthusiasts with no working experience in Web, but a great desire to engage in it as a career path. Both professionals and enthusiasts have expressed equally high levels of interest in investments in Web3 projects.

Departmental Preferences

The female users surveyed have also expressed their preferences regarding departments and directions for personal development. Over half of Web3 enthusiasts are inclined to opt for careers in Research & Strategy and Growth Marketing in Web 3. Trailing behind as career choices are Product Management & Operations and Data Analysis with sufficient potential for attracting talent. Only 22% of females stated that they are interested in development functions as careers, while 33% of female professionals are thinking of taking on engineering roles.

Motivation

Among the factors motivating females to explore Web3 career opportunities are location flexibility and space for personal growth. Over 53% of professional respondents confirmed that their current careers suit them, while 64% of those with no work experience in Web3 stated that they are intent on exploring opportunities in the sector.

Female User Career Activity

Professional female users were found to be more mobile and active in the industry than male colleagues, The statistics reveal that 49% of professionals have experience working part-time or as freelancers, and only 33% have worked full-time. 27% of female Web3 professionals have started their own businesses in Web3, as compared to 41% of male Web3 entrepreneurs.

Challenges And Barriers

The greatest challenge to females is the male-dominated nature of Web3, where the “bro” culture prevails, as stated by 33% of female respondents. Other challenges include the lack of proper Web3 career orientation and education.
