In July 2022, a hacker or maybe hackers took over the Twitter and YouTube accounts of the British Army. The twitter profile the hacker/hackers used are of fake NFTs, which were promoting crypto giveaway schemes. Additionally, on its YouTube account, they have aired live streams with clips of Elon Musk and directed users to crypto fraud websites, as per the CNBC report.

Moreover, at the end of November, a hacker leaked almost 5.3 Million twitter accounts details on a cybercrime forum. Recently Hudson Rock, a cybercrime intelligence company, wrote in its twitter account that it has “discovered a credible threat actor selling 400 Million twitter users data.”

According to the tweet, “The private database contains devastating amounts of information including emails and phone numbers of high profile users such as AOC, Kevin O’Leary, Vitalik Buterin & more.”

The threat actor claimed in the post that “the data was obtained in early 2022 due to a vulnerability in Twitter, as well as attempting to extort ElonMusk to buy the data or face GDPR lawsuits.”

Notably, “it is not possible to fully verify that there are indeed 400 Million users in the database. According to an independent verification the data itself appears to be legitimate, as the cybercrime intelligence firm noted.
