Fidelity May Add Crypto Trading Service for its Retail Customers

  • Fidelity Investments will soon introduce crypto trading service to its retail customers, says “A Little Bird.”.
  • The firm is planning to allow the individual investor to trade Bitcoin on its platform.

Fidelity Investments, is an American multinational financial service corporation, which is reportedly planning to introduce crypto (Bitcoin) trading to its customers. The following statement is said by Mike Novogratz, who is an American investor and the CEO of Galaxy Digital. He said at the SALT New York 2022 conference on September 12, 2022 about Fidelity’s planning.

During the conference Novogratz said that, “A bird told me that Fidelity, a little bird in my ear, is going to shift their retail customers into crypto soon enough. I hope that bird is right. And so we are seeing this institutional march.”

He further stated that, “a technology-driven financial services and investment management firm that provides institutions and direct clients with a full suite of financial solutions spanning the digital assets ecosystem.”

Fidelity’s Previous Announcements

On October 15 2018, Fidelity Investments announced the launch of a new company, Fidelity Digital Asset Services, LLC, which will offer enterprise-quality custody and trade execution services for digital assets.

Abigail P. Johnson, Chairman and CEO of Fidelity Investments said that, “Our goal is to make digitally-native assets, such as bitcoin, more accessible to investors, and We expect to continue investing and experimenting, over the long-term, with ways to make this emerging asset class easier for our clients to understand and use.”

While, Tom Jessop, head of Fidelity Digital Assets further said that, “We started exploring blockchain and digital assets several years ago, and those efforts have been successful in helping us understand and advance our thinking around cryptocurrencies, and The creation of Fidelity Digital Assets is the first step in a long-term vision to create a full-service enterprise-grade platform for digital assets.”

After that, on April 20, 2022 the firm also announced that it will allow the investors to put Bitcoin into their 401(k) retirement savings accounts.
