Crypto Investments of the US Investors did not Fulfill Expectations: Report

Started with the motive of bringing disruption inside the financial space, cryptocurrencies soon became an asset class for investment. People look towards crypto assets as investment vehicles that could make them quick money. Such quick returns lure many youngsters and adult investors towards crypto. However, most of them end up disappointed with their returns on investment. A Pew Research survey reported similar scenarios. 

On 23 August, 2022, Pew Research Center reported the survey conducted from 5th to 22nd July, 2022. The survey found different insights of the crypto space in terms of investments, key reasons of investment, the age group and even performance of investments against expectations, etc. The survey included 6,000 participants. 

Crypto Investment Returns: Expectations Vs Reality

According to the survey, 16% of all the participants were crypto investors who either invested or traded in any crypto asset. Apart from them, at least 71% were those who altest heard about cryptocurrencies but did not make any investments. Surprisingly, the rest of respondents admitted that they did not even hear anything about crypto. 

Out of these 16% investors, the majority of investors revealed that their investment did not perform as they expected. 46% out of total investors admitted to not getting better returns on their investments. However on the other hand, 15% accepted that their crypto investments performed better than they accepted. 

Meanwhile 31% of these investors were those who were satisfied with their returns as they got what they expected. The remaining 8%, however, were not sure about the performance of their investment. 

People With Different Interest in Crypto Space

The survey also found out different reasons attracted people towards the crypto investments. Majority of respondents admitted they wanted a different investment medium and they found it in the form of crypto. 

While many of them thought of crypto investments as a better way to make money. Low threshold and frictionless procedures were also the reasons for people to enter the crypto space. However, a small portion of respondents also admit their wish to be a part of the community.
