Yet another company forwarded towards the adoption of Blockchain technology.

A Hong Kong-based medical services company launched its tracking system based on blockchain to prevent various mishappenings with its productions, including Covid-19 vaccines.

  • Reports in September 2021 stated the mass adoption of Blockchain technology citing the use of tech in 81 top companies globally.
  • One of the leading Asian healthcare services companies, Zuellig Pharma, has launched its blockchain-based system for medical management.
  • The UN assumed consumer spending alone in Southeast Asia to be between $500 million to $2.5 billion on duplicate medicines.

Technological advancements have brought us various systems to develop and base our tasks upon; Blockchain tech is one of a kind result of such advancements. Various companies apply its applications and use and adapt them, and that is also among different industries.

Blockchain has already revolutionized the workings of various companies across industries. Starting as an exchange and transaction system for crypto to today providing life-changing solutions to problems and also inventing new ways to perform traditional tasks. From medical services to shipment location, identification systems to voting systems, for authenticity verification to providing genuine crowdfunding platforms, Blockchain does it all.

Blockchain adoption by a Healthcare firm

Recently Zuellig Pharma has launched eZTracker, which is the company’s blockchain-based management system. The company had various issues to deal with, and finally, it found its solution on blockchain tech. The system would track its vaccine services and provide structured data so that accidents related to services could be prevented.

Most of the time, healthcare companies face issues like the duplicacy of their products, which is a more complex situation when it comes to medical services. After all, it’s a concern of public health. So authenticity is a priority to prevent its products from smuggling and ensure proper distribution of its supplies like vaccines and medications to avoid misappropriation.

Zuellig Pharma’s plan to use its eZTracker

Zuellig Pharma’s eZTracker would potentially resolve those issues simply because of the blockchain tech it’s based on. Every product would have an on-chain record of its movements from manufacturing to delivery, ensuring transparency all over the supply chain.

Data related to a product anytime, from its leaving company to deliver to the customer, can be tracked by both the company and the receiver. Since it’s blockchain-based, it would record the package’s real-time information without any delay. Security of on-chain data is undoubtedly most advanced to date, so the data is safe from any tampering or censoring with the will of smuggling.

Vice president and head of digital and data solutions at Zuellig pharma, Daniel Laverick, stated that apart from getting updates of products route and authenticity verification, users can have access to plenty of other information about products. With its app, every detail can be found, from the product’s expiry date to its temperature while traveling. Users can have actual information about the authenticity of a product on the go.

The company has over 1000 healthcare facilities across 13 countries all over Asia. Daniel is hoping that after implementing the eZTracker system as a monitoring tool, the company would have advancement, and it would help them position themselves better in the market of Hong Kong.
