Polygon Now 2nd Largest Blockchain Gaming Network Surpassing Hive

  • The number of UAWs playing games on Polygon increased by 53% from February to March.
  • Hunters On-Chain game by BoomLand is responsible for a large portion of the UAW growth.

Demand for Ethereum’s layer-2 scalability solution Polygon continues to rise as the second biggest blockchain gaming network by the number of unique active wallets (UAWs) in March.

The number of UAWs playing games on Polygon increased by 53% from February to March with 138,081, according to the “Blockchain Games Report” issued by the decentralized application (DApp) analytics platform DappRadar.

Compared to third- and fourth-placed Hive (84,000 UAWs) and BNB Chain (80,000 UAWs), Polygon is way ahead. First-placed Wax leads the field by a wide margin, with 314,000 UAWs.

The report read:

“Polygon, a blockchain previously known for DeFi DApps, overtook Hive this month and secured the second spot. This is a positive sign for Polygon, as it is now gaining recognition as a gaming blockchain.”

Game by BoomLand

According to DappRadar, the Hunters On-Chain game by BoomLand is responsible for a large portion of the UAW growth on Polygon, with the UAW increasing by more than 17,000% in only the previous 30 days.

In January, BoomLand released Hunters On-Chain, a Web3 version of their hit mobile game Hunt Royale. It’s free-to-play with NFT integrations that look and feel much like Minecraft.

On March 9, an estimated 55,300 UAW fans showed out to the game, setting a new wave. It is unknown what sparked the recent uptick in interest for the game, however, the March 31 in-game NFT sale may have had a role.

The report further read:

“On-chain gaming activity decreased by 3.33% in March to 741,567 daily Unique Active Wallets (dUAW); still, games make up 45.6% of the DApp industry activity in Q1 2023.”
