Decentralized AI Network Sahara Secures $6M to Democratize Global Knowledge Access

Sahara, a privacy-centric decentralized finance (DeFi) AI protocol, has successfully completed its seed funding round, securing $6 million to advance its mission of democratizing global knowledge access.

The investment round, led by Polychain Capital, saw significant contributions from key investors, including Samsung Next, Matrix Partners, Motherson Group, dao5, Geekcartel, Canonical Crypto, and Nomad Capital. Additionally, Dispersion Capital, Alumni Ventures, Tangent Ventures, and Coho Deeptech, along with Sandeep Nailwal, the co-founder of Ethereum layer 2 network Polygon, also participated in the funding round.

Revolutionizing Human-AI Collaboration

As a decentralized platform enabling both individuals and businesses to monetize and scale proprietary knowledge while prioritizing privacy, Sahara aims to transform knowledge distribution into a fair, secure, and accessible system. In this system, information is not just shared but owned and rewarded.

According to an official press release, the decentralized AI network plans to use the funds to further enhance its platform and expand its workforce. The funding will support the development of new features and technologies to continue its mission of democratizing global knowledge access.

“The integration of blockchain technology with AI by Sahara not only enhances privacy and security but also ensures the traceability and acknowledgment of contributions. Sahara’s innovative approach will unlock unparalleled opportunities for individuals and businesses alike, setting a new standard in the way we own, share, and monetize knowledge in the digital age,” said Luke Pearson of Polychain Capital.

Launched in May 2023 by a team of experts from the AI and web3 industries, the protocol is led by Sean (Xiang) Ren, a professor at the University of Southern California (USC). According to the developers, Sahara is built to power human-AI collaboration.

Sahara to Roll Out More Products Next Year

The platform boasts a suite of groundbreaking products designed to enhance collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence. This suite includes infrastructure and applications tailored for business, consumer, research, and developer needs.

The flagship products, Sahara Knowledge Agent (KA) and Sahara Data, are designed to revolutionize AI capabilities. Sahara KA is an AI system that goes beyond basic conversational functions, autonomously analyzing both external and internal data to provide customized decision-making support, while Sahara Data offers high-value data services for AI model training, ensuring data security and privacy.

Over the next year, Sahara will broaden its product offerings beyond Sahara KA and Data. The platform plans to introduce Sahara Vault, Sahara ID, and Sahara Network. These additions will create a comprehensive ecosystem, empowering individuals and businesses to navigate freely within its platform.

So far, the protocol has attracted over 30 enterprise customers, including industry giants like Microsoft, MIT, Motherson Group, and USC.

Tyler Zhou, the co-founder and COO of Sahara, said the protocol aims to establish a blueprint for future human-AI collaboration.

“We hope that our technology will be a stepping stone into the future adoption of human-AI collaboration in order to advance human potential, respect user sovereignty, and promote a sustainable digital economy,” he said.
