Blockchain.com Lands Dallas Cowboys Sponsorship Deal

Crypto firm, Blockchain.com has been roped in to sponsor the popular NFL team in the first crypto partnership deal for the Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys’ New Sponsor

The deal has established the crypto firm as the first digital asset platform in American football. The partnership was announced by CEO and co-founder of Blockchain.com, Peter Smith, via a statement published on the company blog. Under the deal, Blockchain.com would get the rights to advertise on the promotional spaces inside the AT&T Stadium, which is the home base of the Dallas Cowboys. In addition, blockchain.com will also be able to integrate with the Cowboys brand on social and digital channels. However, the financial details were not mentioned by either party involved.

CEO Talks Cowboy Deal

Peter Smith reasoned that the team is looking to reach out to a vast majority of US citizens and consumers who currently do not hold any crypto. Smith cited a recent NFL survey, which indicated that 54% of Cowboy fans believed in a crypto-led financial future. Therefore, the firm has targeted its advertisement efforts toward football fans, namely Cowboy fans.

Smith also commented on focusing on spreading crypto awareness and education as a part of the sponsorship deal. He mentioned that the two organizations would be coming together to create content on financial literacy, with a focus on web3 and the future of finance, by educating the team, the Cowboys workforce, and the fan community. Smith has also touched upon the topic of charitable initiatives that will be born out of the sponsorship deal.

Smith wrote,

“The Cowboys are more than just a job or a business, it’s a way to make a mark on the world and impact people’s lives for the better. And I sincerely hope that I’m able to do the same at Blockchain.com. So it was a natural fit to have exclusive conversations about partnering during this next chapter of football and the future of finance.”

The Cowboys’ First Crypto Rodeo

For the Cowboys, this is their first-ever crypto venture. The NFL had previously imposed a ban on crypto and NFTs on all member teams, which was recently revoked. The timing of the deal between the Cowboys and Blockchain.com couldn’t be more perfect.

Commenting on the partnership, Dallas Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones said,

“[People from Blockchain.com] are bringing Wall Street to Main Street by making digital assets available to anyone, anywhere in the world, and that’s a touchdown for our millions of global fans. We take pride in being the first team in the NFL to sign an official cryptocurrency partnership, and are proud to venture into this innovative business with Blockchain.com”

The NFL had previously launched an NFT ticket stubs program in partnership with Ticketmaster and Polygon.
