In this digital and fastly growing world, accepting new technologies is not a big deal. Since its launch, cryptocurrencies have created their own identity and place in everyone’s life. But among thousands of cryptocurrencies only Bitcoin continues to dominate and is ranked at the top of the list of most traded cryptocurrency in the world ever since it its launch.

How many countries have the rich Bitcoin investors? Here is the answer: the United States, China, and Canada have the largest number of Bitcoin-owning citizens.

The new data reported in November 2022, from Security.org, shows that the U.S., China, and Canada have the highest concentration of crypto-wealth creators. While “55% of the top 40 richest crypto investors in the world live in the U.S. China is home to 10% of the investors while Canada accounts for another 7.5%.”

The following data was sourced from Forbes’ annual list of the richest billionaires and Entrepreneurs magazine’s list of richest crypto investors. It must be noted that these lists were put together before the crypto market crash(es) of 2022.

According to a Forbes report on April 5th, 2022, “Amid all the action, there’s also no shortage of money to be made in the $2 trillion crypto economy. Just ask the record 19 billionaires—7 more than last year—on Forbes’ annual World’s Billionaires list, published Tuesday, who made their money from cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.”

The Crypto “Whales”

  • Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the former founder and CEO of FTX, marked his rank in the richest crypto investor in 2022. While his estimated net worth reached $20.9 Billion earlier this year.
  • Second on the list is Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator(s) of Bitcoin (BTC) who is worth more than $20.5 billion.
  • Micree Zhan, the Head Designer for the AntMiner series of mining PCs, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, and co-creator of Upbit exchange Song Chi-hyung came 4th, 5th, and 6th in the list.
  • Gemini exchange founders the Winklevoss Twins, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong round up the top ten.

The top-40 list of richest crypto investors in the world is mostly young people that believe in the technology and are putting efforts to scale up adoption. At just 28, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, emerged as the youngest crypto billionaire. Meanwhile, the only female member of the cohort is Blythe Masters, a former executive at JPMorgan Chase, has an estimated net worth of $500 million.
