The Terra Classic Casino continues to burn LUNC voluntarily.
Terra Classic casino, Terra Casino (@TerraCasino_io), has burned over 23 million Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) per a tweet from the platform on Sunday.
The betting platform surpassed the 23 million LUNC mark on Christmas day after sending 5 million LUNC to the burn wallet.
“From the @TerraCasino_io team we would like to thank all of our existing customers and those yet to enjoy us a very Happy Christmas or holiday season,” the casino tweeted. “To help you celebrate it we have just burned another 5m LUNC.”

It is worth noting that at launch a little over a month ago, the platform promised to burn 0.2% of all betting volume. Before launch, the TerraCVita, a Terra Classic independent developers group that partnered with the betting platform, asserted that the casino could burn 24 billion LUNC in 6 months.
However, at its current pace, it will likely burn only 138 million LUNC in the set period. Still, a 23 million LUNC voluntary burn is nothing to scoff at.
Meanwhile, Senior TerraCVita member Rex Harrison, AKA Rexzy (@RexYellerBelly), has lauded the casino for its efforts, admitting that he was proud to have been involved in the project.

Additionally, the TerraCVita championing the idea of voluntary burns urged the community to support the betting platform.
Notably, the casino is one of two decentralized applications (DApps) burning LUNC. Moonshot, a Terra Rebels-developed lottery game that allocates 26% of its pool to the burn wallet, has also burnt over 27 million LUNC per the last update from Terra Rebels’ admin ClanMudhorn (@ClanMudhorn_).
Regardless of how big or small, burns locked in by smart contract is the path forward.

The hope is that a flurry of DApps will incentivize on-chain activity and exponentially boost the rate of LUNC burns. So far, the Terra Classic network has burnt over 36 billion LUNC, over 0.5% of the 6 trillion supply. Holders are burning an average of over 327 million LUNC per day, according to data from TerRarity.io.
Developers expect a massive boost in DApps after the chain attains parity with LUNAv2. A recent report reveals that this will come with a v2.0.3 upgrade.
