The team behind Xumm wallet has proposed an overhaul of the XRPL infrastructure, with a primary objective of promoting active participation in network maintenance and operation through incentives.
In a statement, the Xumm team recognized that the XRPL infrastructure is currently grappling with various obstacles, including adaptability and financial viability constraints. This has led to frustration among numerous individuals and companies.
The recent proposal strives to address these concerns, presenting a strategy that promotes inclusiveness and offers concrete incentives to those contributing to the infrastructure.
A pivotal aspect of this overhaul is the launch of XRPLCluster, a new software designed to tackle the existing hurdles and usher in enhancements.

It will establish a globally connected XRPL network with advanced security that ensures quick access to real-time transaction data. The Xumm team has also promised to donate the XRPLCluster code and IP to the XRPL Foundation.
Speaking on the proposed plan, Wietse Wind, founder of XRPL Labs and Xumm developer, remarked:
“This is, without a doubt, the most monumental upgrade to the XRPL infrastructure since its inception, marking a pivotal moment in our pursuit of a healthier, sustainable XRP Ledger.”
The system aims to confront prevailing infrastructure issues and motivate the community to actively engage by offering incentives for their contributions. Ultimately, the proposal will foster a more inclusive and financially rewarding environment for everyone.
Community Reactions and Further Clarification
Due to Ripple’s prominence in the ecosystem, an XRP community YouTuber inquired if the San Francisco-based firm is on board with the proposed plan. Wietse Wind stressed the open nature of the XRPL, stating that “Ripple doesn’t have to be on board.”
Ripple doesn’t have to be on board, it’s an open network and anyone can run their own nodes, or use other public infra as Ripple provides. I’m pretty certain Ripple will be happy about this development too. Who wouldn’t be, if it improves infra operation inclusivity & an…

However, Wind expressed confidence that Ripple would welcome the plan, as it will enhance infrastructure operation inclusivity and provide incentives for running nodes, especially for those consuming resources.
The YouTuber also asked how the incentives would work and the associated numbers. Wind clarified that the incentives would be derived from a revenue-sharing model, where resource consumers would contribute a substantial share of their payments.
He said the exact figures would still be subject to adjustment based on the type of load users incur. Nonetheless, Wind noted that he cannot give any specific numbers regarding the incentives at this period.
One community member sought clarification on which entities would be considered “resource consumers” in this proposed system. Wind explained that it would be based on usage and include companies like XRPL Labs, Ledger, exchanges, and other large entities.
