There is a heated debate on social media about whether we will see an altcoin season at all, with many traders pessimistic about the future. One analyst on X, however, believes the altcoin bull market is only delayed and will occur in 2026.
The analyst named Alex Wacy tweeted:
“Something weird is brewing on this chart.
Every week another indicator points to a MASSIVE ALTS RALLY.
If it plays out, the biggest altseason will hit.

But at this rate… looks like we only get it in 2026”.
He attached the following image to the tweet:

Will We Experience the Altseason in 2026?
Historically, the year following a Bitcoin halving has witnessed the highest gains for Bitcoin, which is accompanied by a major altseason in which the secondary crypto market heats up and posts mega gains. The trend was observed in 2017 and 2021, which followed the Bitcoin halvings in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
However, this time around, we are close to seeing this trend end. Bitcoin and, to a much lesser extent, Ethereum have posted dogged new ATHs over the course of the year, but the rest of the market has had an abysmal showing. None of the top major coins, ironically, posted new ATHs, let alone going on explosive rallies like previous cycles. Binance’s BNB was the only major exception, rallying above $1000, while XRP came close but ultimately failed to do so.
There are genuine fears that we may witness a delayed, subdued altseason in the coming year(s), or that the altseason trend is gone for good.
While the crypto community would love a major altcoin boom and profit from it, there is no indication from the market that an altseason is imminent. Even Alex Wacy gave no concrete indicators to back his claim.
One follower summed it up perfectly:
“Nothing weird is going on. Alts rally is nullified through Tariff/ shutdown. I mean why in the hell these people do not even consider FOMC, Cpi, etf flow reversal and treasury etc. Hilarious, lambs to the saluter babyyyyy”.
The Future
We are entirely in uncharted waters right now, as even BTC itself hasn’t performed this poorly in the 4th quarter of a year following a halving, ever. It is already down 29% from its ATH and is increasingly under pressure from big players trying to influence its standing.
So, a 2026 altseason seems like a far cry at best, but the best part about crypto is that the status quo can change ever so quickly.
