Satoshi Nakamoto, famous inventor of Bitcoin (BTC), is now the 25th richest person in the world, with his wallet currently worth over 56 billion dollars.

Satoshi Nakamoto: his Bitcoin wallet worth over $56 billion and the ranking of the richest people in the world

The latest rally in the price of Bitcoin in this 2024, caused the wallet of its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, to reach (and exceed) 56 billion dollars.

This heritage would place him in the famous Forbes ranking The World Real-Time Billionaires in 25th place, if Satoshi Nakamoto were considered.

Anyway, only in this 2024, the creator of Bitcoin has seen an increase of 9 billion dollars in his wallet.

This was possible thanks to the fact that BTC continues to increase in price and that its market cap has returned to exceed one trillion dollars.

On the other hand, it is believed that at the birth of the Bitcoin network, its founder also mined the digital currency, accumulating between 1 and 1.1 million BTC. It is therefore based on the fact that Nakamoto’s wallet has probably collected about a million coins. The possession of a million bitcoins at today’s price on February 27th, would define Nakamoto’s wealth at over 56 billion dollars.

Looking at the Forbes ranking, therefore, Nakamoto would take the current position of Charles Koch & family, who have a wealth of 55.9 billion dollars.

Satoshi Nakamoto and his $56 billion Bitcoin wallet today

In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin (BTC) has recorded a pump of +9% which brought the price to exceed $56,000. At the time of writing, BTC is worth $56,268. The last time BTC touched this price was in December 2021.

Even the market cap of the queen of crypto has currently risen to 1.110 billion dollars. This milestone has made Bitcoin the tenth asset in the ranking of the top 10 assets in the world.

Both Nakamoto and Bitcoin are at the top of the world rankings. On one hand, Nakamoto’s wealth is at least 140 billion dollars away from the current world’s richest podium.

There would be, in fact, in first place Bernard Arnault & family with 229.1 billion dollars, followed by Elon Musk with 208.6 billion dollars and third Jeff Bezos with 195.7 billion dollars.

For the ranking of the top assets in the world, Bitcoin’s current market cap is at least 1,600 billion dollars away from the podium, where Apple is in third place with a market capitalization of 2,797 billion dollars.

Sending one million Bitcoin

At the beginning of 2024, it emerged that someone had sent about 27 BTC to Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet. Specifically, the transaction took place on Friday January 5, 2024, when the 26.9 BTC were worth almost 1.2 million dollars.

Obviously the motivation behind this transaction is unknown, but some argue that the 99.7 BTC in the wallet, untouched for 15 years, should be considered as “lost”.

Now, with those 99.7 BTC, the last approximately 27 BTC received at the beginning of 2024, the situation could change.

There are those who consider the latest transaction as a very expensive mistake, or there are those who believe that this transaction is aimed at a “burn” of BTC. However, this latter theory has not been explained, since there would be no major impacts on the circulating supply of bitcoin.

Just like Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity, even this latest transaction signed in 2024 remains a mystery. What is certain, however, is that today, BTC has surpassed the $56,000 threshold.
