Team Says Shiba Inu Is Deploying, Not Dreaming After Upgrading SHIB: The Metaverse Project

The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has introduced a new upgrade for SHIB: The Metaverse, which supercharges its performance and eliminates lags and crashes.

In a post on X, Shiba Inu’s official X account stated that the ecosystem’s metaverse project is evolving following its latest upgrade.

According to the post, the upgrade offers faster loading times, maintains zero perceptible downgrade in visuals, and eliminates stutter. Following the upgrade, the team confirmed that Shiba Inu is not dreaming but deploying. This emphasizes Shiba Inu’s effort to implement real updates rather than merely fantasizing about its vision.

Technical Details of the Optimization

Notably, the team provided explicit details about the recently introduced upgrade. According to the post, the upgrade was implemented across three major hubs of SHIB: The Metaverse, such as Bark Park, Tech Trench, and Shib Station.

All three hubs received optimization patches that eliminated crashes, long load times, and performance lag. First, the team revisited the metaverse’s GPU drawing board to ascertain the cause of the lags and crashes.

After spotting the inefficiencies, it resized more than 200 texture assets, changing their sizes from 512×512 to 2048×2048. It also merged redundant texture maps to get reduced material complexity.

Moreover, the team said it standardized materials to reduce shader bloat, which typically consumes more GPU resources. Furthermore, it also applied smarter mip-streaming for smoother traversal, ensuring that higher resolution textures are only used where they are most impactful.

The Result

After these modifications, the team claims that GPU memory usage declined by 15-25%, resulting in smoother gameplay on both mid-range and low-end machines.

Amid the modification, the team noted that there was no evident decline in visual quality during gameplay.

In addition, users can now gain faster access to hubs such as Tech Trench, Bark Park, and Shibuya Station, as the latest upgrade has drastically reduced their load times.

“No more crashes mid-walkthrough. No more stuttering at spawn points. Just smooth, optimized metaverse exploration,” the official metaverse account wrote.

Furthermore, the ecosystem team hinted at plans to introduce more upgrades in the future. It referred to the performance optimization upgrade as one of the first it plans to roll out.

Recall that the Shiba Inu ecosystem team opened early access to the metaverse project in December 2024. Users can access the metaverse on Windows PCs and web browsers like Chrome.

The team is building a mobile application for SHIB: The Metaverse. Plans are also underway to launch a fishing game within SHIB: The Metaverse, which would eventually lay the foundation for the project’s in-game economy. In the meantime, the team has yet to announce the launch date of the mini fishing game.
