Surprising Investment from Stablecoin Giant Tether! Purchased Shares from Canadian Commodity Company! Here Are the Details

Tether, the company behind the world’s largest stablecoin USDT, announced that it has acquired a significant stake in Canadian-listed gold mining company Elemental.

Tether Buys 31.9% Stake in Canadian Gold Miner Elemental and Targets Further Growth

The company took a significant step into traditional commodity sectors by purchasing approximately 31.9% of Elemental’s shares, a total of 78,421,780 shares.

In addition to the initial purchase, Tether has entered into an option agreement with AlphaStream Limited, granting Tether the right to purchase an additional 34,444,580 shares after October 29, 2025, subject to Elemental’s approval.

The move is in line with Tether’s strategy to diversify its portfolio beyond digital assets and strengthen ties to real-world commodities. In recent years, Tether has increased its focus on infrastructure and resource-backed investments, particularly those that can increase financial stability and transparency across markets.

This acquisition highlights the stablecoin issuer’s aim to become more actively involved in traditional industries while also potentially using its presence in the precious metals sector to support asset-backed digital products.
