Solana Labs Partners With Google Cloud to Unveil GameShift

Google Cloud, Google’s cloud computing service subsidiary, announces a partnership with Solana Labs to enhance the Web3 gaming experience.

The collaboration birthed GameShift, a platform that provides web3 gaming protocols easy access to certain features. Some of them include wallets, tokenized assets, and on-chain marketplace.

Revolutionizing Web3 Gaming

According to a blog announcement on Tuesday, GameShift will offer Web3 users advantages like wallet integration, in-game asset management, pay-in pay-out systems, and marketplace functionalities.

Notably, GameShift is already available at press time, and developers can access the platform on Google Cloud Marketplace.

An advantageous feature of GameShift is its API-first approach, which allows Web3 game developers and users to access the protocol without knowledge of blockchain technology. This bolsters usability and creates a welcoming gaming experience for users.

Furthermore, GameShift offers users asset security, a burdensome issue among Web3 protocols. GameShift’s use of a self-custody wallet would reduce the risk of hacks and scams to “the level that developers routinely address in their off-chain systems.”

Google Cloud Stresses Solana Qulaties

Google Cloud noted that it chose Solana for the project due to the network’s unique qualities. According to the cloud service provider, Solana’s glaring transactional acumen, 99.95% uptime, and throughput were factors it considered before the collaboration.

Also, the Solana network has its fair share of non-fungible token (NFT) and stablecoin volume traction. The “Ethereum Killer” possesses high transaction speed and a good number of daily users.

It bears mentioning that the Solana network holds the record for the most active daily addresses in the blockchain’s history after hitting 5.5 million users earlier in September.

It is noteworthy that Google Cloud and Solana have collaborated before. In 2022, the data firm announced it had become a validator in the Solana network.

A year later, Google Cloud’s Blockchain Node Engine resumed managing Solana nodes. Google Cloud has also added Solana’s data to its public data set program for BigQuery.
